Fine lines and wrinkles
Daily sun protection limits early signs of aging. Of what you put on your skin, retinoids are the best known for fine lines: they speed up skin cell turnover and boost collagen.
Ingredients that help
- Retinoids, such as retinol
- Moisturizer, which can smooth the look of fine lines within days
- Peptides and adenosine are also common in anti-aging products
What dermatologists recommend
- Use a retinoid at night only. Start with a gentle one every other night, and build up.
- Retinoids make skin more sensitive to the sun. Wear a broad-spectrum, water-resistant SPF 30 or higher sunscreen every day.
- Add one new product at a time, and try it on your inner forearm for 4 to 5 days first. Stop anything that stings or burns.
- Give a product at least 6 weeks, and up to 3 months, to work.
