Terms of Service
Last updated: October 24, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Jouaxia ("Jouaxia", "we", "us"). They apply to the Jouaxia website and My Skin accounts. By creating an account, buying a plan, or joining a workspace, you agree to these Terms and to our [Privacy Policy](/privacy). If you don't agree, please don't use your account.
1. Not medical advice
Jouaxia explains skincare ingredients and rates products from their published ingredient lists using the rules on our rating methodology page. This is general information, not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Ratings can't account for concentrations, your health, or your pregnancy. Always talk to your doctor, midwife, or dermatologist before making decisions about your health or skincare, especially if you're pregnant or trying to conceive.
2. Who can use Jouaxia
You must be at least 13 to create an account, and 18 or older (or the age of majority where you live) to buy a plan. If you create a business workspace or buy a plan for a business, you confirm you're allowed to act for that business.
3. Your account
Keep your sign-in details private and tell us right away if you think someone else has used your account. You're responsible for activity in your account. Give us accurate information, including a working email address, so we can reach you about your account and billing.
4. Workspaces
Every account includes a personal workspace. A business workspace (Team, Business, or Enterprise) belongs to the person who bought it, its owner, who controls its plan, billing, and members. Owners and admins can invite people, change their roles, and remove them. Each member's saved lists and scans stay private to that member. The workspace's plan decides what its members can do while working in it.
5. Plans and payments
- Plans. Jouaxia offers a free plan and paid plans, described on our pricing page. What each plan includes, such as saved lists, scans, and seats, can change; we'll tell you before a change reduces what you've paid for.
- Billing. Paid plans are subscriptions billed monthly or yearly, in advance, through Stripe. They renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel. Prices are in US dollars, and taxes are added where required.
- Price changes. If we change the price of your plan, we'll tell you at least 30 days before it applies to your next renewal, so you can cancel first if you prefer.
- Failed payments. If a payment fails, Stripe will try again. If it keeps failing, paid features stop until the payment is made; your saved information stays.
- Promotions. Discounts and promotion codes apply as described when you use them, and can't be exchanged for cash.
- Student plan. My Skin Student is for people currently studying at a college or university. You verify with your school email, and again every year. If your verification ends or is revoked, your Student plan ends at the end of the period you've paid for, without being renewed at a different price; you can choose another plan any time. Verifying with an address that isn't yours, or sharing a verification, may end your Student plan.
6. Cancelling
You can cancel anytime from Settings › Billing in your account, or by asking us. When you cancel, your plan stays active until the end of the period you've paid for, and isn't renewed. After that, the workspace moves to the free plan: everything you saved stays, but you can't add beyond the free limits until you upgrade again.
7. Refunds
- Yearly plans: if you're not happy, ask for a full refund within 14 days of buying or renewing, and we'll refund it and end the plan.
- Monthly plans: we don't refund part of a month. Cancel anytime to stop the next renewal.
- Our mistakes: we always refund duplicate charges and billing errors.
- Where the law gives you more, such as a right to cancel within a set time, we follow the law.
To ask for a refund, use our contact form and choose the topic that fits. Refunds go back to the original payment method through Stripe and can take 5 to 10 business days to appear.
8. Acceptable use
Don't misuse Jouaxia. That includes: breaking the law; trying to get into accounts or parts of the site that aren't yours; disrupting or overloading the site; copying large parts of the catalog with automated tools; reselling access; or using the site to send spam. We may limit, suspend, or close accounts that break these Terms.
9. Our content
The catalog, ratings, write-ups, and design are Jouaxia's or used with permission. You may use them for your own personal, non-commercial purposes. Ingredient lists come from public sources such as INCIDecoder and brands, and ingredient functions from the European Commission's CosIng database; we work to keep them accurate but can't promise they're complete or current. Some links to retailers are affiliate links, explained in our affiliate disclosure.
10. Changes and ending your account
We may change or stop features. If we make material changes to these Terms, we'll update the date above and tell account holders by email or in their account; continuing to use Jouaxia after that means you accept them. You can close your account anytime by contacting us. If we close the site or a paid feature you've paid for, we'll refund the unused part of your plan.
11. Disclaimers and liability
Jouaxia is provided "as is". To the fullest extent the law allows, we don't promise that it will always be available, error-free, or that ratings and ingredient lists are complete or correct, and we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for decisions you make based on the site. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that can't be limited.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and of the state where Jouaxia is based, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where the law where you live says otherwise.
